Shopping in Hurghada isn’t just about buying things, it’s an experience that gives you a real taste of Egyptian culture. Walking through the lively streets of the city, you’ll find everything from colourful bazaars to shiny modern malls, each offering something unique.

One of the best parts is how affordable everything is compared to back home, especially when you enjoy a bit of friendly haggling. You can pick up great souvenirs and gifts for your loved ones, enjoy a freshly squeezed juice, or stop for some ice cream or local street food as you explore.

If you’re planning to go shopping in Hurghada, we recommend doing it in the evening, especially if you’re heading to one of the open-air streets. The midday sun can be intense, particularly in summer. Make sure to bring a bottle of water – it’ll come in handy.

Before heading out, it’s also a good idea to bring Egyptian pounds with you and exchange money in advance. You can check out our Currency Exchange Guide for more details.

If you need to move between different shopping areas, our Taxis and Transport Guide will help you get around easily.

Shopping Streets

Hurghada’s streets each have their own vibe. some are old and full of local life, others are newer and a bit more upscale. Every one of them has its own atmosphere, selection of shops, and range of restaurants, so if you have time, it’s worth exploring more than one.

Sheraton Street

Sheraton Street is probably the most popular shopping street in Hurghada. It’s one of the city’s oldest and liveliest streets, lined with well-known hotels such as the Seagull Hotel and El Pasha.

You’ll find everything here. From large supermarkets like A10 (formerly Abu Ashara) to small bazaars, food stalls serving both Egyptian and Syrian food, coffee shops, clothing stores, perfume and gift shops, shisha lounges, juice bars, and pharmacies. There are also a couple of money exchange shops, and a few ATMs along the way.

This street has a bit of everything you could want, making it a perfect spot for an evening walk with friends or family. Whether you’re looking for souvenirs, snacks, or just a local experience, you’ll find it here. It’s especially lively in the evenings, with the buzz of conversation, the sound of taxis, and the constant movement of people – truly one of Hurghada’s most vibrant streets.

Sherry Street

Sherry Street is a smaller street connected to Sheraton Street. It’s lined with local shops selling a variety of goods: Turkish coffee, nuts, toys, local clothing, and fresh juices, among others. It’s narrower and more compact than Sheraton, but full of energy.

You’ll find more locals here than tourists, which gives you a glimpse into the everyday Egyptian shopping scene. Prices are often lower than in the more touristy areas, so it’s a great place to grab local products or gifts while supporting small businesses.

El Dahar (Downtown Hurghada)

El Dahar is the oldest shopping area in Hurghada, dating back to the city’s beginnings. It’s home to countless local shops and bazaars selling everything from clothing and souvenirs to traditional perfumes, miniatures, and fresh produce. You’ll see both locals and foreigners wandering its streets, which carry an authentic Egyptian charm: busy, colourful, and slightly chaotic in the best way possible.

This area captures the true spirit of Hurghada. Just remember to bring your haggling skills as some sellers may start with higher prices, especially if you look like a tourist. Always ask for prices in Egyptian pounds before you agree to buy anything.

Souks & Local Markets

If you want to explore a more traditional side of Hurghada, visit the local souks. These are open-air markets where locals buy everything from spices and herbs to handmade crafts, copper lamps, and carpets. Haggling is expected and part of the fun!

The souks around El Dahar are particularly worth exploring, especially for traditional Egyptian items like galabeyas, papyrus artwork, and alabaster figurines. Prices are lower than in tourist-heavy areas, and you can often find unique, handmade items that make perfect souvenirs.
