There are many beautiful islands around Hurghada that are perfect for a day trip by boat. Among them is Hula Hula Island, one of the most popular spots, loved by visitors from all over the world.

Hula Hula Island is about 30 minutes away from Hurghada’s shores and is nestled on one of the two Giftun Islands. Open during the day, Hula Hula offers an amazing beach experience with its crystal-clear waters, white sands, and sunny Egyptian weather.

Hula Hula Island Tour Programme

Most tours to Hula Hula Island follow a similar programme. The day usually begins with a transfer from your hotel to Hurghada’s marina, where most of the tours depart from, before you set sail towards the island.

The First Snorkelling Stop

On the way to the island, there’s usually a snorkelling stop at one of the reef sites. You’ll stay there for about an hour to enjoy swimming and snorkelling in one of the most beautiful spots in the Red Sea.

You’ll often be provided with all the required equipment, so there’s no need to bring anything with you. A snorkelling mask and fins are usually included.

Once the stop comes to an end, you’ll continue your sail to the island and then take a small boat to reach the shore.

Time to Enjoy the Island

Once there, you’ll get to spend some time on the island itself, where you can relax on the beach in a comfy beanbag or sunbed, take some pictures on one of the iconic seats in the sea, or lie back in one of the hammocks over the water. You can also order food and drinks from the bar while you unwind.

Let’s Stop for Some Water Activities

When it’s time to return to Hurghada, you’ll head back to the boat and sail away. After a while, there’s usually another stop, this time for some fun water activities such as the banana boat or the floating sofa. You can enjoy these activities with your friends, and they are often included in the trip’s price.

Lunch on Board

On some boats, lunch is served on board and usually includes grilled chicken or Egyptian kofta, salads, and potatoes or rice. Soft drinks, water, and coffee are also provided. This meal is usually complimentary and very welcome after an amazing day at sea.

Some tours also include a second snorkelling stop on the way back, where you can spend a short time exploring another reef site.

What to Wear and Pack

Always pack light when you can. We recommend wearing flip-flops and light clothing, especially in the summer months. Bring a hat (if you like wearing one), a towel, and of course, don’t forget your sunscreen or tanning oil, as you’ll get plenty of tanning time both on the boat and on the island.

What Time Does This Tour Run?

Hula Hula Island tours run all year round, except during the winter months when it’s too windy or the weather is unstable. There are usually multiple companies offering this tour with slightly different programmes and meal options. Prices can vary depending on the operator and what’s included.

Is This a Family-Friendly Trip?

Absolutely. This trip is great for children aged two years and above. Just make sure they’re well protected from the sun and wearing sunscreen. Both kids and adults will enjoy this trip, as you’ll get to see some truly magical scenes throughout the day.
