Orange Bay Island

Orange Bay Island is one of the most popular boat trips in Hurghada, often referred to as the “Maldives of Egypt.” The islands around Hurghada are some of the most beautiful sights in the country, boasting crystal-clear waters and golden sands. It’s a true escape from reality and a must-see for anyone visiting Hurghada or Egypt.
Orange Bay is a desert island located about 30 minutes from Hurghada's shores, nestled on one of the two Giftun Islands. Open only during the day for visitors, it offers a slice of paradise.
This magical island allows you to disconnect from the world and immerse yourself in a serene environment that revitalises your spirit.

Banana Boat or Floaty Sofa?
After a short cruise across the Red Sea, the boat will make its first stop for some water-based fun! You’ll have the option to ride a Banana Boat or a Floaty Sofa—both thrilling experiences where you’re pulled along by a speedboat with water rushing past you. Hold on tight as they try to tip you into the sea!

Don’t worry, it’s perfectly safe. You’ll be provided with life jackets and accompanied by a lifeguard, but be aware that the water can be quite chilly during the winter months.
Snorkelling Stop
Next, the boat will stop at a coral reef where you’ll have the chance to snorkel. All necessary gear is provided, including a snorkel, face mask, and fins.
Here, you’ll meet some of the Red Sea’s most vibrant marine life—stunning fish, colourful corals, and the clearest water imaginable. If you've ever seen those amazing diving documentaries, this is your chance to live that experience in real life!

A snorkelling stop is always a delightful experience.
Orange Bay Island – Here We Come
After your snorkelling adventure, it’s time to head to Orange Bay. Upon arrival, you’ll transfer to a smaller speedboat to reach the island, as the larger boats can't dock there.
You’ll disembark onto a long pier that stretches into the island, offering your first glimpse of Orange Bay’s rustic wooden structures, surrounded by desert sands. The island is home to several beach bars where you can order a cold beer, shisha, or snacks.

What About the Food?
Most trips include food and drinks, which are usually served after the second snorkelling stop. However, don’t expect anything too fancy! The meals are typically simple, with rice, pasta, chicken or meat (perhaps some Egyptian kofta?), vegetables like potatoes, and a green salad. Drinks often include tea, coffee, and sodas such as Coke, Fanta, and Sprite.

What to Wear and Pack?
Pack light! You don’t want to be lugging too much around throughout the day. In addition to your swimming gear, it’s a good idea to wear slides or flip-flops, sunglasses, and sunscreen (especially in the summer months). A hat, a towel, and your mobile phone for pictures are essential. You can bring along a small backpack with any other necessities—just make sure it’s easy to carry and move around with.
